Mulan was inspired by the beautiful and peaceful warrior that is Sifu Mimi Chan. Mimi has many roles including host to her uplifting podcast show, Culture Chat. Her life experiences and background have deepened her empathetic listening which allows her to dive into to her intreviews with an open heart to create a comfortable place for storytellers.

In my interview with Mimi, we talked about how I got started in makeup going way back to the begining with my $100 investment to Mary Kay complete with a play-by play of how I met and started working the Queen of the South, Paula Deen. I share what happened when I met Josh when I moved to Savannah, after discovering an inoperable brain tumor and how I was able to beat it.

One thing I didn’t expect to open up about was caregiving for my beloved Titi Jenny during her time in Hospice. Mimi held what I call sacred space for me as I shared my heart on losing someone I love so much to cancer. End of life caregiving and grief are typically topics people stay away from, but I’m grateful Mimi didn’t run from it and wouldn’t let me grace right over it quickly either! She’s good, y’all.
